Signs of Life

We are busy little bees this weekend, working away to make our yard a bit more presentable.  We just returned from our second trip to the Netherlands' Lowes equivalent.  Thankfully, our yard is much smaller than we're used to tending, so it makes yard work not quite so bad.

We bought a new lawnmower as well since the one I had found at a secondhand store last fall wasn't cutting it (literally).  And we were told at "Lowes" that they do not sharpen lawnmower blades or sell kits to sharpen the blades on your own.  So our only alternative was to buy a new one!  Luckily, our yard is small enough that we can manage with just a manual mower, so the price wasn't too steep.

We've had a pretty low key weekend so far, which has been nice.  Last night we ate dinner at the home of one of Todd's co-workers along with one of the teams he works on and their partners.  This meal was impressive.  There were 8 courses, all of which were homemade!  Let's see if I can remember the line-up: salmon skewers, pea soup, white fish on a carrot mash, shaved ice with champagne as a palate cleanser, roasted lamb with green beans and potatoes, a cheese course, tiramisu for dessert, and finally coffee with cookies.  It was quite the culinary feat, if you ask me.  And very delicious.  

This morning, we went on a walk with Jack to check out the circus that's in town.  It's not a very big one, but there were some cools camels and elephants to say hello to.

The good news about our weekend, is that it will be continuing for 2 more days.  This Tuesday is Queen's Day, a national holiday, which means that Todd has both Monday and Tuesday off from work.  We head up to Amsterdam tomorrow to begin partaking in the craziness.  We've got loads of orange gear, so I think we're ready.  Here's hoping that neither of us falls off of our canal boat into the water!
