Our weekend kicked off with our 5th wedding anniversary. It actually was our "golden" anniversary, not that we've been married for 50 years, but that we got married on July 5 and it's been 5 years. We decided to mix things up for our celebration, so instead of going out to dinner somewhere, we took a picnic to the park.
Before heading out, we exchanged gifts. I got some beautiful flowers and a surprise gift in a wooden box that I'd open at the picnic. And Todd got an olive wood tapas plate with little dishes to fit on it. Can you tell we followed the theme of the 5th anniversary being wood?
At the park we set up our little spot, and Jack really started to enjoy herself. Here she is after she just leaped over my legs to take off running in the other direction.
And here's the spread along with what was in the wooden box:

Jack was also very interested in the food we brought along...
As the night went on, we began looking for entertainment, so we played spin the bottle. Todd spun and Jackaroo was the lucky lady.
We had a great time at the park. And you can probably tell that we like our dog a little bit.
On Saturday, we went to the annual 4th of July barbecue for the North American Women's Club. This event is held out in a town called Vessum at an American guy's home. And as you'll see from the photos he has quite a bit of property. The barbecue is done up American-style complete with a potluck and lots of hamburgers and hotdogs.
And they even had a giant American flag hung up that was just perfect for posing in front of. Here's Kelly, Sam, and Megan:
